Dr. Ming Tang is a metallurgist and material scientist that has spent years studying the performance of additive manufacturing materials in the relationship with microstructure, process parameters, and other influential factors. He is also the expert specialized in the fatigue assessment and failure analysis for AM metals and metallic parts. In his research, Ming has developed models and tools that enabled improvement of AM productivity while maintaining part quality and performance. He also has extensive hands-on experience of different testing of AM materials. His research has been published in leading journal of material science and metallurgy.
He is a Postdoc Research Associate in the Department of Material Science & Engineering at Universit of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He received his Ph.D. in materials science from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and conducted research in the NextManufacturing Center at CMU. He also received his M.S. from CMU, and his B.S. from Beihang University.
